Risau Rantau

Nyiur kelapa melambai rengsa   Sayup kicauan burung menyapa lara   Mentari segan mempertontonkan wujudnya   Mereka pandai melacak jiwa yang sedang hampa  Langkah berderap gundah menyongsong cahaya  Lambaian jemari menghantar penuh hasrat  Tatapan pilu membisu hendak bersua  Berkemas rantau jadi manusia Dingin senyap mendekap mesra Terasing, tersisih, di kota ingar bingar Lunglai membelenggu terpendam kemas Terlampau suntuk untuk bersandar kembali pulang Peluh mengucur deras menyelusuri rintangan terjal  Berbekal doa yang terselip dipelupuk jiwa   Merajut helaian asa terpampang nyata  Demi ibu bapak yang kian menua Teruntuk manis getir tanah rantau Air mata berderai deras menyapu malam Waktu dan jarak akur mencipta kalut rasa rindu Terimakasih telah mengajarkan makna kembali pulang

My Hardest Goodbye

Kedah, 15 September 2019 Dear Polytechnic Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah,             I never forgot the moment when I set my foot on the ground at the first time. Everything was different. Many stairs, buildings with many floors, and long corridor welcomed me as they looked at me strangely. It was really hard walking around to reach one place to another place but this scene will be missed, indeed. Something that I complained turned out into a memorable part that couldn’t be forgotten, my heart knew that you were the best place to share with. When walking through corridor, I met new friends as we immediately had a great relationship. They were not shy to just say hello and they were excited approaching me, having a conversation; how friendly they are. We shared our thoughts, culture, and language as we gradually made jokes. I had such great parents in Polytechnic Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah. Being away from home didn’t mean that I ...

English Program

The day before going to Alor Setar and Padang Besar for sending Thailand’s exhchange students back home, we conducted an English Program. The participants of English Program were around 50 including the buddies and the students of STIM SUKMA Medan and the duration was 3 hours. We started by singing Up and Down song. While singing the song, the participants should make movement based on the part of the song that they got. People who were lose would come in front of the class and did twister tongue. When they did twister tongue, all participants laughed so hard. We also gave them 10 colored pictures per group and they were asked to make story based on them. One picture should be used at least 2 sentences. Each group was given 20 minutes to make the story and after finishing they had to present it in front of the class. The story was amazing yet funny. They were creative. To make the vibe more conducive, we played finding soulmates. They had to find their soulmates; becak for 3 peop...

English Club

Before the cultural night program, we had a precious moment with English Club of PTSB. We were asked to conduct some fun activities; such an honor. We started by doing movement and singing a song. It was so fun! Since they involved in English Club, their English was pretty good so we did mini debate in order to increase their critical thinking and their brave to speak in front of many people. There were five statements and they had to place their self whether they disagreed, strongly disagreed, agreed, and strongly agreed. The statements were; homework should be banned, money is everything, age is an important factor in relationship, I can live without Instagram, and animal shouldn’t be eaten. We loved the way they spoke confidently and tried to give their perspective about the case given. There was no wrong or true answer; it was just giving opinion and how they can appreciate the others’ opinion which might be the opposite of theirs. Their thoughts were amazing! Unfortunately, ...

Luncheon with DPCCE

Exchange Students from Undiksha, Bali, Indonesia I was so happy getting a chance to meet Director General of Polytechnic and Community College Education (DPCCE) in Kementrian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM). All of students exchange program were invited. From Kulim, the place where I stayed, to Kuala Lumpur took 6-7 hours. Inbound students of Polytechnic Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah were on the same bus with Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin. Along the road, I just sat on window seat while looking at the view and listening to the music. I cried sometimes because I would be leaving very soon and the time would stop the moments that I wanted more. My heart was heartbroken because the day was getting closer. Everything looked sad. I finally reached Kuala Lumpur after being mellow for hours. At night, I went to Petronas Twin Tower. It was so beautiful; such an epic city. In the morning, I woke up so hard because I arrived at hotel at 2 A.M but the show must go on. Before going to KPM, I had a p...

Cultural Night Program

Cultural Night Program was an event which inbound students should perform their culture. We thought that cultural night program would be held in a small room with limited seat but the fact was more than one hundred people watched us. All students of Polytechnic Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah who were staying at dorm had to attend this event. They were asked to wear their traditional clothes; they looked amazing. Fortuna and I decided to perform Balinese traditional dance, Puspanjali. We only prepared the day before the show since we had busy schedule. Luckily, we were familiar with the basic of Balinese traditional dance so it didn’t take many hours to make it perfect. We did rehearsal twice since we didn’t want to let the audiences down. Before the show, our beautiful mother, Puan Huda, took us to try Laksa, a famous food in Malaysia.   The show finally came, and we were the last performer. We were at the backstage from the beginning to put on make-up, we couldn’t see the oth...

Bowling Tournament

The day I had been waiting for so long finally came. Playing bowling after doing teaching practice was a must. This arranged due to public holiday (Agong’s birthday). The most special one was playing bowling with the Top Management of PTSB. They might look old in terms of age but their spirit was not doubted. I was so excited yet nervous because this was my first time. I never did it before, but I had watched how the player played on television. Somehow it looked easy, but when I tried to play it, many troubles came. There were 7 teams and each team consisted of 4 people. My members’ team were Rudi, Haznah, and Puan Liz. It was difficult keeping the ball straight; I had to be focused all the time. Since I didn’t have breakfast, I easily lost the focus but I kept trying hard to get score so my team could be the winner. I did strike once, such a lucky person. As the time went by, finally the score came out. Unfortunately, my team couldn’t be on the top three. It was totally fine at ...

Everyone Loves Game

The second class was amazing. We went to DKA 3C Civil Engineering Department conducting an English language activity. We were given two hours for teaching; to make them move and speak as what the supervisor requested. To make the students ready and encourage them, we started by simple game. The students were asked to make a word based on the last letter given by the previous person. For example, the word book . The students needed to find a word starting with the letter K, for instance, knife , and so on. For the defeated students, they invited to go in front of to do twister tongue. All students were happy and our lovely supervisor, who was watching at the back, looked excited too. The twister tongue done by students was completely getting crazy. As a teacher, we felt fully blessed watching how passionate they were.   First activity was whispering game. Whispering game is a game that needs more attention in listening and s...

Penang Trip; Bukit Bendera, Penang Art Street, Chew Jetty

Bukit Bendera           After having scraped schedule in teaching, finally a short trip came. We went to Pulau Pinang (Penang) on Wednesday with the buddies, lecturers, and students of STIM SUKMA Medan. We started the day at 7.30 A.M by having breakfast. Our humble director, Puan Yusma, also joined sitting together with us. The food tasted yummy and the drink as well. They prepared well to make sure our energy is enough since we were going to Penang Hill for hiking, continued to stroll around in Penang Art Street.  Puan Azhani and the buddies Puan Azhani and the Inbound Students Chew Jetty Penang In Penang Hill, we had to face 1.400 stairs to be not really on top, but to the first point and continued taking Penang Hill Railway, the most popular way to the top of the hill. 1.400 stairs were not easy as we were not climber but being on the first point favorably was awesome even, we almost lost our breath. The stairs can be ill...
